The Team

The AEC has a dispersed network of 151 electoral divisions, 50 of which are located across New South Wales and the ACT including State Office in the Sydney CBD and several single and multi-divisional office sites across the state.

There is currently a Project Officer vacancy in East Maitland, New South Wales. The Project Officer will be working within a high-performing, collaborative team. The team is responsible for delivering several tasks, critical to the delivery of federal events, including supporting Team Leaders and staff in their work. This is a cohesive and high performing team that has a significant focus on effective communication with stakeholders.

The Opportunity

The Project Officer assists in the day-to-day management of matters relating to the corporate governance and election readiness functions. This includes administrating, planning, and coordinating short term tasks and longer-term initiatives. During an election event, the Project Officer will deliver key election projects as required.

The Project Officer needs to be flexible, organised, goal-oriented, able to clearly communicate results and focused on delivering high quality outcomes within strict timeframes. 

To Excel you'll have:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide administrative support, accurately record project progression and complete tasks within strict timeframes.
  • Experience assisting with the planning, scheduling and completion of components of projects and an ability to check project progress including monitoring schedules and checking budget data.
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis as required and reach evidence-based conclusions to assist in the management, preparation and coordination of procedures and delivery of projects.
  • Ability to remain positive and respond to increased levels of pressure in a calm manner, while achieving goals within tight timeframes and responding to competing and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain key internal and external relationships, including liaising with stakeholders on project or operational issues, and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Experience in exercising independent judgement and resolving workplace issues with a degree of guidance and monitoring from management.
