Overview

Our Brisbane based commercial client is seeking an experienced Data Migration Engineer to support a large-scale digital refresh project focused on cleaning up systems and data. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing data migration and archiving processes while ensuring compliance with data retention policies. The role is a 6-month initial contract with a high likelihood of extensions, offering a hybrid work arrangement-3 days in-office, 2 days from home.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute data migration processes to ensure accurate and secure movement of data between systems.
  • Manage and implement data archiving strategies, ensuring historical data is properly stored and accessible.
  • Ensure compliance with data retention policies throughout the migration and archiving processes.
  • Collaborate with project managers and technical teams to ensure data integrity and alignment with project goals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during data migrations and archiving activities.
  • Document procedures and create reports on migration progress and challenges.

Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer working with large datasets, ETL processes, and system integration.
  • Proven experience in data migration projects, with a focus on data accuracy and integrity.
  • Strong knowledge of data archiving methodologies and best practices.
  • Solid understanding of data retention policies and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL), cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and data pipelines.
  • Experience with data transformation, cleaning, and quality assurance techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
