Job Description

  • Part-time (0.8 FTE) 
  • Ringwood site with hybrid working conditions offered, 1-2 evenings per week required
  • $47.60 per hour + Super + Salary Packaging benefits

ABOUT THE ROLE

If you enjoy variety in your day, and working closely with other service delivery professionals, you might be exactly the person we're looking for In this role you will be providing professional therapeutic counselling and support to people adversely affected by gambling harm, and to promote Gambler's Help services to the wider community to improve access for service users.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

The Counsellor will be required to undertake a number of activities including but not limited to:

  • Providing intake assessment and information to clients contacting the service.
  • Providing individual, couples and/or family counselling sessions to clients both face to face and via telehealth including some after hours.
  • Arranging appropriate referrals for clients to other services as required.
  • Identification and documentation of systemic issues and trends arising from the casework.
  • This position requires assertive engagement, pro-active follow up with all clients at agreed intervals to encourage and maintain service engagement, as well as other indirect client services including activities relating to a specific client where the client is not present.
  • Participation in local community and state-wide activities and projects.

Qualifications

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

In addition to a passion and drive to support people within the community, you will have:

  • An interest in assisting individuals, families and affected others to manage gambling related harms
  • Relevant counselling experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology or Social Work or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated competence in an area of clinical practice, preferably in a multidisciplinary team context and with clients with multiple or complex needs.
  • Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector or an appreciation and understanding of community organisations and their operation.
  • Applicants must be eligible for membership/registration with APS (AHPRA), AASW or PACFA.
  • Level 2 or higher membership of ACA
