  • This is a permanent position commencing in Term 1, 2025 and will be a 4-5 day working week position as directed by the Director of Library Services

PLC Sydney is seeking a passionate and innovative Teacher Librarian to inspire our students and shape the future of learning.

The Teacher Librarian will provide a stimulating, positive, and helpful environment that encourages a habit and love of reading, listening, and creating for understanding and enjoyment. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Promote reading, inquiry, information skills, and research-based learning across all curriculum areas
  • Deliver literacy and research support lessons across Years 7-12
  • Teach weekly literacy classes in the senior library
  • Assist with research queries and assessments
  • Display expertise in online databases and referencing 
  • Participate in regular professional development 
  • Collaborate with teachers to enhance connected teaching and learning experiences for all students 
  • Coordinate some library co-curricular programs
  • Contribute to whole school library team-related events and projects 

We are looking for: 

  • Qualifications as a Teacher Librarian with teaching experience in secondary education 
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and NESA accreditation to teach in NSW
  • Knowledge of the current NSW secondary curriculum experience with library management systems 
  • Strong and effective communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 
  • Positive engagement with all school community members 
  • Flexible skills that can support all 3 school campus libraries where necessary 
  • Knowledge or willingness to develop skills in Cambridge courses and curriculum

You will be required to support the Christian ethos of the College.

PLC Sydney is a Bands system school.

You will need to provide a Working With Children Check Clearance Number and date of birth.
