About the Role

This is a newly created role which is supported by the Victorian Government and is responsible for strategically planning and implementing a whole of council approach towards gender equality and primary prevention initiatives. The new position reports to the Manager, People & Safety and works closely with key internal and external stakeholders across Council to embed a gender lens and intersectional approach across all areas of service delivery. The focus of the position is to:

  • drive gender equity and inclusion strategies, programs and practices that promote the development of a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce
  • promote positive attitudes, behaviour and culture change at HRCC and within community programs and services to prevent family violence and all forms of violence against women
  • increase internal and community awareness and understanding of the drivers of family violence and all forms of violence against women, including prevention strategies

Your natural style of building trusting relationships and embracing a wide range of styles and voices has been instrumental in your previous success of leading health, safety, wellbeing, social or human organisational changes. You are self-managed and comfortable in working with ambiguity or within a greenfield environment to build, implement and assess the effectiveness of new ideas and concepts. You take personal accountability for role-modelling inclusive behaviour, showing respect for diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. You will also care deeply about improving gender equity and eliminating violence against women within our community.

If you ideally have:
