Project Manager - Networks
As a Project Manager at our organisation, you will be responsible for leading complex network projects across large-scale portfolios. You will manage key projects for high-profile clients across various industries. These include end-to-end delivery of large network-related initiatives, focusing on Cisco and Juniper platforms. This role combines technical understanding with hands-on project management, demanding strong leadership and coordination across multiple workstreams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a portfolio of high-impact projects, including network upgrades and integrations, primarily on Cisco and Juniper platforms.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery within scope and budget.
- Manage projects worth $500,000 to $1 million, ensuring their completion while managing risk and resources.
- Coordinate across multiple projects within large enterprises, helping stakeholders identify and eliminate roadblocks.
- Handle change management processes, including after-hours work for project cutovers and delivery, ensuring a smooth transition without disruptions.
- Mentor junior project managers, spending about 25% of your time guiding them through delivery processes.
- Engage in stakeholder management at a high level, navigating tricky situations with clients, and providing pragmatic, mature advice to push back when necessary.
- Work closely with senior leadership but maintain a hands-on approach, coordinating various projects that could range from 50k to 500k in budget, managing 3-4 projects at any given time.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of project management experience, ideally in network-related environments.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams, keeping complex projects on time and within budget.
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder management, with the ability to navigate difficult conversations and technical challenges.
- Experience working in large enterprise environments such as airlines, telecommunications, or transport logistics is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Cisco and Juniper networks is advantageous.
- Flexibility to handle after-hours work including nights and weekends, typically for project cutovers and critical deliveries.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience in aviation or large-scale transportation industries is highly valued, but candidates from large network environments such as telecommunications are also encouraged to apply.
- Technical understanding of cloud and cybersecurity will be a plus as these areas may become part of future projects.
- Strong interest in mentoring junior project managers and growing into a potential leadership role in the future.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary: $150k + super - $170k + Super.
- Flexible working arrangements, with some on-site work required.
- Opportunities to grow with the company and advance into leadership roles.
- Additional perks include novated leases, phone or internet stipends, and health care benefits.
Candidate Considerations:
- This role is best suited for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments with demanding deadlines and complex stakeholder management. While technical expertise is important, the ability to manage stakeholders and risks effectively is crucial to success in this position.
