Overview

Scope of Work HSPO Engineering Electrical Engineer (Level 3)
1) This engineering position requires a Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution, or a qualification gained elsewhere, that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer.
This engineering position requires the individual to be able to meet the requirements of Chartered Professional Engineer (Engineers Australia), Registered Professional Engineer (Professionals Australia) or Fellow/Member of Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

2) HSPO requires a suitably qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer for a period of ten months to 30 June 2023.
The contracted Electrical Engineer tasks will include, but not be limited to, the following:
a. Understand all required engineering disciplines and practice, provide technical authority and design acceptance, implement and ensure compliance with technical regulations, legislation, policy, procedure and practice;
b. Communicate and engage with stakeholders, plan, lead, develop, integrate, manage and evaluate projects and engineering management systems to deliver the engineering aspects of the Defence materiel capability life cycle. Investigate and expose risk, analyse and report on engineering issues, requirements, develop and implement recommendations and advice;
c. Accountable for exercising assigned engineering authorities (inclusive of Design Acceptance Authority Representative) and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations;
d. Accountable for ensuring adherence to the relevant workflows and schedules;
e. Draw upon knowledge and expertise of all relevant engineering disciplines, business and operational context to identify issues and uncertainties and address appropriately;
f. Evaluate technical and design packages including scoping, planning, and reviewing and implement actions;
g. Implement relevant engineering knowledge and processes to develop advancements to engineering principles, techniques, methods and regulations;
h. Drive the delivery of very complex engineering functions, systems and innovative activities;
i. Oversee the improvement and maintenance of the HSPO Technical Regulatory
Management system (TRMS). Provide subject matter expert advice and effectively act
as an Engineering Authority level 3 in TRMS; and
j. Review and update the Engineering QMS documentation to reflect current practice,
particularly noting HSPO operation in an outsourced engineering model.
3) Ability to deliver services in Cairns onsite. The candidate may be required to work on RAN vessels at sea and therefore must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

4) BASELINE Level security clearance.
5) Effective communication and analytical skills are required.
