About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a to join our BIS Strategic Surveillance business unit  based at Edinburgh Parks - SA reporting to the Surveillance Systems Engineering Team Lead.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.

You will perform system engineering activities including requirements management, functional analysis, candidate solution development, system analysis and design. You will also support integration, verification and validation, acceptance testing and certification, safety and security assessment.

You will develop and manage requirements and design including hardware and software specifications, product breakdown structure, and design documentation, component and interface specifications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide design and engineering support to the project
  • Support testing and trials activities
  • Participate in ensuring that designs meet all statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Perform analyses to define and characterise the system and its components
  • Utilise domain, discipline and systems engineering knowledge to enable, support and deliver products robustly, demonstrating they meet their requirements and are fit for purpose
  • Embrace the transition towards a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology across the business

About YOU

  • A University degree level engineering qualification preferably within a Systems, Electronics, Software or Mechatronics discipline
  • Demonstrated systems engineering experience coupled with engineering experience in a relevant discipline
  • Proven ability to function confidently within a project team environment with demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment or autonomously
  • Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
