About The Role:

Are you ready to elevate your career in Public Relations? Compare the Market is seeking an experienced Head of Public Relations to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you'll serve as a key ambassador both internally and externally, collaborating with various departments to create and execute timely, effective, and informative media campaigns. You will provide strategic and operational excellence in delivering our marketing strategy and achieving key performance objectives.

As the Head of Public Relations, you will act as a spokesperson for the business, demonstrating subject matter expertise and ensuring alignment with business outcomes. Your role will be central to the creation and dissemination of data-rich, informative news content and media releases, driving earned media coverage. The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional news sense and creative instinct to identify PR opportunities, along with a robust media contact network across Australian print, radio, and television.

Supported by your colleagues, you will contribute to the development and execution of the marketing team's strategic objectives, encompassing financial, operational, people, customer, risk, and community goals. Join us and leverage your expertise to make a significant impact on our media presence and overall business success.

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain and deliver the PR plan daily and manage long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Leverage internal and external resources to find new story angles and opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver whitepaper reports to create newsworthy material for the media.
  • Distribute media releases and manage proactive media pitches to secure coverage and backlinks.
  • Secure media opportunities as a CTM spokesperson and support other spokespeople with relevant briefing documents.
  • Maintain and build a contact list of media outlets, journalists, and digital publishers for each business vertical.
  • Research and engage case studies from CTM’s customer base and other sources to support media content development.
  • Monitor media coverage and issues relevant to CTM’s core verticals and provide internal reports as required.
  • Seek new ways to grow awareness of Compare the Market through traditional and emerging media channels.
  • Manage and deliver performance plans and objectives for direct reports within the company’s frameworks for continual monitoring, measurement, and improvement of productivity, quality, and impact.
  • Provide recommendations on the team budget and deliver financial objectives within the approved allocations.
  • Contribute to the leadership team’s effectiveness through proactive engagement, collaboration, negotiation, and alignment with peers.
  • Support and strengthen the CTM brand and culture by modelling high standards of performance, positively influencing teams and individuals, negotiating, and resolving conflicts, and articulating and cascading the company vision and objectives.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Similar
  • Extensive media relations experience within a large organisation and/or customer-facing brand.
  • Experience turning complicated topics/research/analysis into clear messages for consumers.
  • Familiar working with media monitoring platforms/providers.
  • Project management skills to manage schedules, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Strong people skills and ability to form close working and professional relationships.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams as a key team player, or autonomously.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and an unrivalled eye for detail.
  • Strong people skills and an extensive contact base of Australian print and broadcast journalists.
  • A passion for finance topics and a desire to help Australians make informed decisions with their money through consumer advocacy.
  • Ability to ideate, source, write, and place stories within the media.
