About the role:

 Teacher, Workplace Trainer – Culinary Arts and Hospitality provides high quality and innovative course materials and excellent teaching delivery to culinary arts and hospitality students both on campus or in the workplace to Apprentices and/or Trainees, including local and International students, to:

  • support student success in Culinary Arts and Hospitality courses and thereby improve their employment and/or educational pathways
  • ensure BHI compliance requirements are met.

 The Teacher, Workplace Trainer – Culinary Arts and Hospitality is one of several teaching positions including Hospitality, Cookery and Leadership and Management Courses, in the Service Industries Team (AFS) as part of the Faculty of Creative Industries and ICT. This position is responsible for working professionally with employees at all levels across the Box Hill Institute and liaising with relevant external stakeholders, including industry workplaces.

 The Faculty of Creative Industries and ICT provides a wide range of teaching and learning programs at local,

interstate and international campuses. The Faculty delivers nationally recognised training in courses ranging

from Certificates to Diplomas and postgraduate programs. Discipline areas include Land Sciences, Hospitality,

Culinary Arts, Travel, Tourism & Events, Music, Design, Hair & Beauty and Cyber Technology.

Our courses provide pathways into further education and employment, and help to increase life and

employability skills. Full-time, part-time, on-campus, blended, work-based and online delivery options exist to

suit the needs of our students and industry partners.

 About You:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or a qualification at diploma level or higher in Adult Education
  • Relevant industry qualifications at Certificate III Level, or higher preferred.
  • Adult Learning Principles: Experience in planning and researching for the preparation of programs and learning materials, in the identification of setting standards, and well-developed skills in transferring knowledge including the ability to research, select, and use a wide range of learning resources and assessment tools that would ensure a successful training program.
  • Teaching Skills: Demonstrated ability to design and deliver logical, succinct, up-to-date and engaging course materials and lessons. Experience in effectively managing difficult and sensitive topics and questions.
