Join our ambitious, fast evolving Product team as a Senior Product Designer and play a key role in building the future digital experiences for two of Australia’s most loved and revered brands

You'll design intuitive, engaging and effective customer experiences through collaboration with Product Managers, designers, technologists and partners across the business. If you have a keen eye for detail and you're passionate about leading human cantered design projects, that seek to combine quality aesthetics with exceptional usability, we'd love to have you on board.

This is a 12 month fixed term role. 

What You’ll Be Doing;

Design and Innovation:

  • Develop and refine digital products that solve customer problems, enhance engagement, and meet business objectives through innovative and effective design solutions.

  • Leverage user research and data analysis to inform design decisions, ensuring the creation of products that align with customer needs, business goals and market trends.

  • Harmonise tech feasibility, customer needs and business goals to deliver strategic design solutions. Most notably, via atomic design systems.

  • Establish and communicate a clear design vision that supports the overall product strategy and contributes to the roadmap for Kmart & Target.

Collaboration and Integration:

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, IT and stakeholders across the organisation to integrate design research, data, and market analysis into the product development process.

  • Ensure Usability: Apply UX/UI principles to enhance product usability and satisfaction, ensuring designs are user-friendly and meet regulatory standards.

  • Drive Efficiency: own and drive the Design System strategy, construction, governance and ongoing evolution from design to tech execution.

Mentoring and Leadership:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers, fostering their growth and development.

  • Advocate for and implement industry best practices and emerging trends in design.

  • Share insights and knowledge through presentations, workshops, and internal communications to inspire and educate the team, contributing to the Kmart Group's centre of design excellence.

To Be Successful in This Role You’ll Have:

  • Experience in a similar role, with retail experience highly regarded.

  • Experience with customer-facing products or services.

  • Proven track record in designing and shipping digital products and systems that solve real problems and are used by people

  • Exposure to end-to-end design processes, from research and discovery through to delivery and measurement.

  • Experience with human-centered design processes and methodology.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in an environment of high performance with competing priorities, and time pressures.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations and communicate with influence.

  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills.
