About the role

Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton is currently looking for an Orderly to join the team in a casual role.

As an Orderly you will work as a multi-skilled member of the clinical team by providing non-clinical support to contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient care. This is primarily achieved through the transportation of patients, undertaking limited duties associated with the care of patients, general assistance in clinical departments and cleaning duties.

The Mater Private Hospital Mackay has been providing excellence in clinical and pastoral care to the people of Mackay and its surrounds since 1927. Our hospital is a modern 105-bed facility featuring five operating theatres, a fully equipped day surgery unit, and a wide range of specialist clinical services.

Salary range: $29.59 - $32.09 (OOL2) per hour plus superannuation, 25% casual loading, and access to not-for-profit Salary Packaging

What you’ll be doing

Transfer and porter patients throughout facility in adherence with mobility equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safe working practices associated with patient handling as required Relocate equipment and furniture as required Transfer and position patients to/from/in beds, wheelchairs, commodes, shower chairs, trolleys, etc. as required in accordance with safe working practices Courier items between departments/services as required – e.g. scripts, medications, specimens, forms, etc. Assist in the delivery of basic patient care, hygiene and dietary needs under the supervision and direction of a registered health professional ensuring that associated duties are within scope of practice and expertise as required Keep main thoroughfares and exits free of clutter and equipment Undertake general housekeeping duties that include, but are not limited to, cleaning, carbolising beds, organising linen, restocking of equipment and disposables, maintaining the order of storerooms and waste management

About you

To be successful in your application, you will have:

Current certificate in providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, or equivalent (desired) Prior experience in a comparable position (desired) Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Ability to effectively communicate with patients, public and staff at all levels of the organisation whilst maintaining strict confidentiality Knowledge and application of all cleaning techniques, infection control practices and waste removal procedures associated with patient care environments, or willingness to learn same Understanding of infection control standards associated with the environment which include, but are not limited to, body fluids, personal protection equipment and hand hygiene Digital technology and Microsoft proficiency
