A family-owned and operated tourism business is seeking an exceptional, experienced Marine Steward and Snorkel Guide for our brand new vessel, Viper. Viper is the fastest vessel in the Whitsundays, offering day tours to the Outer Great Barrier Reef and Whitehaven Beach, a very high percentage of International guests. You will work alongside our Operations Manager and Skipper, and your responsibilities will include managing the day-to-day tour flow and maintenance. This will involve preparing the vessels and ensuring that the crew is delivering the highest standard of guest enjoyment, while also maintaining compliance with relevant legislation.

The ideal candidate for this position must prioritise safety, possess a deep interest in marine tourism, and have excellent people management, interpersonal, and organizational skills. It is important that you are able to communicate effectively with our international guests.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience (essential)

  • A minimum Coxswain level 3, with the intention of further qualifications.
  • Has performed safety drills and emergency procedures
  • Senior first aid 
  • Oxygen
  • Rescue training
  • AED
  • Elements of shipboard safety 
  • Recreational/Power craft marine license
  • Exemption 38
  • Long-range radio operator
  • Maintenance of vessels
  • Proven deckhand skills
  • Accredited scuba diver
  • Tour Guide experience; snorkel guide management experience
  • Life guard experience highly regarded
  • Hospitality Management
  • Responsible service of alcohol
  • Relevant up to date qualifications
  • International languages
