Director, Kindergarten VIC

The Role

NextSense has an exciting opportunity for a Kindergarten Director to join our team at Blackburn. This is a permanent, full-time role, working 38 hours per week across 5 days and reports directly to the Head of Education Strategy. You’ll make a difference in this role by:

• Overseeing the daily operation of the Kindergarten
• Managing and resourcing your team, in collaboration with the Area Manager
• Creating and managing day-to-day classroom activities, including structured lessons and providing resources for children
• Designing, developing, implementing and evaluating individual education programmes
• Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children, including those that are deaf/hard of hearing
• Providing leadership and promoting the professional development of the team

NextSense is a not-for-profit organisation supporting people with vision or hearing loss across Australia. We work with children, adults, and their families, providing a holistic approach to hearing services for newborns through to people over 90 years old, and helping children who are blind or have low vision to develop the right skills, mobility, and independence to confidently explore their world.

Today, we deliver world-class education (both to children with sensory loss and to professionals in the field), cochlear implants, allied health services, therapy, research, and clinical services to children and adults. Our new world-leading centre for innovation on-site at Macquarie University NSW represents a new era for hearing and vision loss. This nationally significant social infrastructure project was undertaken to nurture, trial and share new ideas and form new partnerships that will drive better outcomes for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or have low vision. While the centre is based in NSW, its impact will extend across the country—and your role from our Blackburn Kindergarten will be essential in bringing these advancements to life.

To be successful in this role you'll need to demonstrate you meet the following selection criteria:

• University qualifications in Early Childhood Education which meet requirements to be a Nominated Supervisor
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a ECEC centre
• Experience in delivering inclusive early childhood teaching programs
• Sound understanding of and commitment to The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia and The National Quality Framework
• Experience working with children and families with sensory needs and CALD backgrounds
• A current First Aid Certificate, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training
• Registration with Victorian Institute of Teaching
