HOPE has been a community service in Western Australia for over a century, providing much needed support to people affected by alcohol and other drugs, mental ill-health, youth justice issues and socioeconomic disadvantage. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Diversion Officer/Counsellor to join the GCADS team The position is part time, working  4 days a week and does not include weekends

About the Opportunity 

To Coordinate all Diversion Programs in the Goldfields.  The role is also required to provide support to eligible clients through case management, mentoring, court support, advocacy, referrals to external programs and services, and practical assistance.  This includes support to young people to re-engage in education and participate in therapeutic programs.  This role is also required to work collaboratively with Youth Justice and other local agencies. 

Requirements of the Role: 

  • Support the implementation and integration of new programs for diversion officers. 
  • Support new diversion officers to establish and maintain relationships with all court stakeholders including the magistrate, Aboriginal Legal services (ALS), legal professionals, court welfare, court security staff and community justice service to ensure the profile of diversion remains high within the court community. 

About you:

  • Relevant tertiary or equivalent qualification in Social Work, Counselling or  Community Development  
  • Experience in working with people with AOD issues. 
  • Demonstrated skills in supervising workers in the provision of effective service delivery to people and the capability to motivate, empower and lead a team to meet program goals and objectives. 
  • Experience in working supportively and therapeutically with people and the capacity and commitment to assist them to achieve positive change in their lives. 
  • Experience in working with the Aboriginal community and cross cultural settings. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing a program to facilitated various activities across different locations. 

Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa, satisfactory National Police check, and Current C or A class driver's license.
