About The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our team in playing a crucial role in the execution of Bundaberg Regional Council's Civil Design and Capital Works Programs. In this position, you will be responsible for reviewing and certifying civil designs for roads, drainage systems (including nature-based solutions), sewerage infrastructure, and water supply infrastructure, ensuring they meet relevant standards and industry best practices. You will also provide technical advice, direct supervision, and mentoring to technical staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment. Additionally, you will be instrumental in reviewing, developing, and maintaining design systems and standards to ensure the efficient delivery of capital works projects across the Bundaberg Region.

About You

  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ)
  • Experience in the design of Civil Infrastructure including production of working drawings and associated documents
  • Relevant qualification/s recognised as suitable for a corporate membership of Engineers Australia
  • Advanced level knowledge and experience in using computers and various software packages including Civil Engineering Software (Eg, 12D, AutoCAD), GIS (Eg, Arc, MapInfo), the Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and storm water design software such as XP SWMM/Storm, XP Rathgl and Rafts
  • Advanced interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of clients, stakeholders, consultants and staff
  • Ability and knowledge of the production of reports and accurate design records in accordance with relevant design standards and quality assurance system principles
  • Ability to supervise and provide engineering advice and support to design and survey teams and other work groups within Council
