About You :

  • 2+ years as a Head Chef in a high volume restaurant
  • Ability to manage, train and mentor the kitchen team
  • Looking for a long term career move
  • Confident in a fast paced environment whilst keeping food quality high
  • Proven experience of all financials
  • Prefer working in a small community

Position Summary :

Reporting to the General Manager, as the Head Chef your primary responsibilities will be to run an effective, happy and efficient kitchen encompassing all elements of staff management, training and kitchen operations across preparation, service and administration. Candidates should present with experience in a management capacity, experience in contemporary café menus and have the ability to demonstrate their skills through an incredible working knowledge of food prep techniques, food safety and team culture. This role requires a leader who is passionate about producing food that is of the highest standard.

Key Requirements :

  • Adequate experience as a Chef in a quality establishment that is rated highly by local food scene
  • Excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise work duties to meet deadlines
  • Proven history of producing quality food
  • Proven history of being able to motivate, lead and develop a passionate team
  • Ability to manage suppliers, food costings, staffing and other budget management
  • Proven ability to develop interesting and iconic menu’s
  • You are a professional with excellent communication skills who can work collaboratively with the company Directors to achieve the company vision

Job Responsibility :

  • Develop menus that are of the highest quality
  • Develop, nurture and motivate a passionate team that strives for quality at all times
  • Tend to with any kitchen issues and day to day needs as they arise
  • Be able to work autonomously and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail
  • Manage food costs and supplier management
  • Manage weekly food ordering
  • A modern approach and flair for menu planning and design;
  • A confident and creative cooking style with a strong emphasis on quality and presentation;
  • Experience in high volume catering for Conferences & Events;
  • The ability to deliver consistent, high quality food whilst maintaining food costs;
  • A strong understanding of rostering and costings;
  • A flexible approach in adapting to guest requests;
  • The ability to lead & develop a motivated cohesive brigade;
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure
