The Role:
 

Opportunity for an Ordnance Technician to join our Technical and Weapons (T&W) team part of the AWS Domain. The T&W team is responsible for providing Repair, Maintenance & Technical support to Defence in the areas of Major and Minor Fleet units and support services located around Australia, including specific Marine, Electronic & Weapon systems across all Naval Services and platforms.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Provide Depot Level and Field Engineering services primarily for the Radar Mechanical systems installed in RAN vessels and Establishments.

Supporting Above Water, Underwater Weapons Systems and Support Systems.

Providing guidance to junior technical staff, other trades and contractors involved in the installation, commissioning and testing activities associated with mechanical systems installed locally and at remote sites

Assist and advise customers, both internal and external, with technical issues and provide rational and sustainable resolutions

Foster a working environment that is focussed on meeting the requirements of customers, both external and internal.

Undertake minor projects and tasks including the technical direction and progress reporting activities associated with the project.

Preparation of technical reports and procedures in support of Above Water and Underwater Weapons Systems, Support Systems

Attend sea acceptance trials and conduct “at sea” system alignment and defect investigations as required.

12 appropriate modules of a National Diploma; or 12 appropriate modules of an Advanced Diploma; or equivalent

Drivers Licence – Class C

Physically be able to work in a shipboard environment (climb ladders, masts, confined space work, manual handling work etc.).

As required, be available for weekend and shift work
