About the Client:

One of our long standing clients within the financial services is hiring for a Web Application Engineer, based in the heart of Melbourne CBD.

Core Responsibilities:
As a Web Application Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting system analysis, design, development, and implementation of web applications and databases.
  • Ensuring compliance with IT policies and procedures, particularly those related to quality and productivity, as well as Information Security requirements.
  • Understanding client business functions and technology needs, including tools, technologies, and databases interfacing with various business areas.
  • Acting as a system tester, writing test plans, and ensuring deliverables meet requirements.
  • Elevating code through development, testing, and production environments, and providing ongoing support.
  • Translating technical specifications into code for new or enhanced projects, following software development methodologies and architecture standards.
  • Participating in design, code, and test inspections throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participating in special projects and fulfilling additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent training and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience working with web and enterprise technologies.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry, particularly investment management.
  • A passionate developer with expertise in various methodologies, including Agile and DevOps principles, and hands-on experience with multiple IT platforms and languages, such as:
    • AWS (DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, etc.)
    • Java 8/9 with Spring Boot and related frameworks
    • NodeJS and JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies, CI/CD practices, and modern development tools (Git/GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, etc.).
  • Experience with API management platforms and best practices.
  • A mindset that questions the status quo and drives value delivery to customers.
