About the Role 

We are currently looking for a dedicated Mineral Separation Shift Operator at our Northshore site in Bunbury, (opposite the Dolphin Discovery centre on Kombana Beach).

The role of the Operator is to oversee the separation and processing of minerals during assigned shifts. The ideal candidate will have experience in mineral processing operations. They will ensure that production runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently whilst meeting quality standards and production targets.

This is a rotating even time roster working 12 hour shifts on a 2D2N / 4 Days off Pattern. 

Key responsibilities of the MSP Operator 

  • Operate and monitor mineral separation equipment. 
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and safely. 
  • Monitor process parameters and adjust equipment settings as needed to optimize mineral recovery and quality. 
  • Perform quality control checks on mineral concentrates and tailings to ensure product specifications are met. 
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participating in safety meetings and training. 
  • Coordinate with other shift operators, supervisors, and maintenance staff to ensure smooth operations and timely resolution of equipment issues. 
  • Maintain accurate production records, log process data, and generate reports as required. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost savings. 

The Ideal candidate will demonstrate 

  • Mechanical Skills: Basic mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with tools and equipment for routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs. 
  • Technical Aptitude: Previous experience in operating mineral separation equipment such as crushers, screens, gravity separators, magnetic separators, and flotation cells.  
  • Problem-solving Abilities: Aptitude for identifying and resolving process issues, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and implementing corrective actions. 
  • Safety Consciousness: Competent in the usage of JHAs, Step Back 2x2 / Take 5s, along with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment. 
  • Quality Orientation: Dedication to producing high-quality mineral concentrates and tailings, adhering to product specifications and quality standards. 
  • Attention to Detail: Ability follow Standard Operating Procedures, to ensure product quality and correct usage of equipment. 
  • Teamwork and Communication: Excellent communication skills and ability to work and collaborate effectively in a team environment. 
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing production requirements, priorities, and schedules, and willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. 

It would be considered highly desirable if you had; 

  • Certificate II or III in Process Plant Operations  
  • Appropriate licences and demonstrated experience operating - Front End Loaders / Bobcat /Forklifts 
  • Previous experience with control systems  

TO BE ELGIBILE YOU MUST 

  • Have unrestricted working rights within Australia, (Sponsorship and visa’s with restrictions are not available  
  • Live within 45 mins from Bunbury City Centre, due to the 12 hour shifts.
