About the role
As an P03 Extension Officer, you will support Extensive Livestock Systems and Animal Science, working directly with northern beef producers to develop resilience in livestock businesses through business planning and support. Your work will contribute to achieving the goals of the Federal and Queensland Government-funded GFLBR project.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with northern beef producers to enhance business resilience in areas such as production, natural resource management, human resources, and relationships.
- Support the northern GFLBR coordinator, including contributing to impact reporting and promotional activities to raise the program's profile.
- Attend industry forums and collaborate with industry partners, participating in events to further program goals.
- Assist DAF Beef Extension Mareeba staff with general extension work in the northern region.
- Collaborate with the North Queensland Pasture Resilience Project, Reef Extension team, and Northern Beef and Feedbase team on various initiatives.
- Contribute to communications material, including content for the FutureBeef website.
About You
To thrive in this role, you need:
- Bachelor's degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) in Animal, Agricultural, or Environmental Science.
- Current 'C' class driver's license.
- Experience and understanding of the beef industry in Queensland and/or northern Australia.
- Experience engaging with land managers to build successful relationships.
- Agricultural extension or farm business management experience.
- Ability to travel for extended periods across Queensland's regions.
- Commitment to obtaining vaccination or providing evidence of prior immunity to Q-Fever before commencement.
- Must have full working rights in Australia.
- Be able to pass and hold national police check.
