The role of Research Projects staff in CSIRO is to collaborate in scientific and technological activities with other research staff usually by assisting with detailed planning, undertaking or assisting with experimental, observational or technology development work, and in carrying out the more practical aspects of the work. At senior levels, Research Projects staff may be involved in providing consulting services, science and technology management and/or industry liaison.

The Robotics and Autonomous Systems Group at CSIRO are one of the leading robotics and autonomous systems research groups in the world, based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. We are part of the Cyber-Physical Systems Research Program at CSIRO’s Data61 Business Unit. We develop foundational and applied research for a broad range of domains including; agriculture, advanced manufacturing, mining, biodiversity, and biosecurity. Our systems provide scientific, social, and economic benefits through cutting-edge science, deeper understanding of natural and built environments, increased productivity and human safety, and augmentation of human capabilities.

A critical role for the electrical/electronic design of robotic systems is required within the Cyber Physical Systems program at CSIRO Data61. The successful applicant will fill a critical role within the multi-skilled and highly motivated Robotics and Autonomous Systems group (RASG). The role will be highly rewarding working with research scientists and engineers on world leading research in the areas of robotics and automation.

Your duties will include:

  • Provide the electrical/electronic engineering design solutions for embedded systems including robotic, autonomous and sensor systems
  • Research, analyse, and recommend electrical/electronic engineering designs for the robotics group’s projects. Provide specifications and costing for resources as required
  • Work within a highly skilled multi-disciplinary research and engineering teams to support scientific research
  • Liaising with fabricators to enable the timely and efficient manufacture within specifications for the electrical/electronic designs

Salary: AU$117,917 - AU$131,423 plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in Engineering
  • High level skills and experience in electronics design
  • Proficiency with schematic and PCB design packages such as Altium Designer or equivalents
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the PCB manufacturing and fabrication environment to enable the timely and efficient manufacture within specifications for the electronic designs

Eligibility
