Based in Lockridge WA, The RF & Facilities T2 team has responsibility for the operation and maintenance of satellite transmission equipment at the Optus Satellite Facilities in Sydney, Perth & Canberra, with this role being based at the Lockridge Satellite Facility in Perth.

The position requires an individual with a sound understanding of satellite RF & Broadcast systems and networks and the maintenance practices associated with the hardware. The individual should also be familiar with the commissioning of new services and equipment associated with terrestrial transmission systems and RF system equipment including SSPAs, TWT’s, KPA’s, Frequency Converters, LNAs etc.

The Senior Network Engineer position supports a 24/7 after hours call out roster and perform emergency maintenance as required.

The Day to Day

Diagnose and resolve a range of faults associated with the satellite transmission equipment requiring replacement or resetting of equipment and the measurement of associated signal types. Perform Satellite Control procedures under the direction from the Satellite Control team as required. Coordinate and oversee maintenance contractors for the facility’s Plant equipment ensuring all work is safely completed to both Optus and Industry standards. Ensure all customer service interruptions and network faults are restored within Service level guarantees wherever possible. Manage spare equipment using SNOW database for all equipment faults & repairs.

Australian Citizenship is essential for security clearance purposes Valid West Australian (or equivalent) Drivers License: Class – Car. Ability and willingness to apply for A Defence security clearance to the level of “NV1”. (Citizen) Years' of experience in the telecommunications & or Satellite Communications Industries. Basic appreciation of satellite network equipment, interfaces and protocols. Experience with equipment maintenance, Network management function, Spacecraft ranging calibration. Tier 2 support for VSAT platform.
