About the role

This is a full-time (70 hours per fortnight) closed period contract until December 2024, located on the Central Coast NSW.  

About the opportunity

Uniting is seeking an experienced and passionate caseworker to join our Doorways Central Coast Team as part of our Specialist Homelessness Service. This role involves providing critical support to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will deliver client-focused, strength’s-based casework, ensuring people are supported to find appropriate accommodation to suit their needs and/or supporting people to remain safely housed in secure stable accommodation. This role will require on-site work at our Wyong Doorways Hub and participation in Assertive Outreach to engage with rough sleepers. 

You will provide casework and case management to families, couples and singles over the age of 25. Develop referral pathways with local government and service providers to best support homeless or at-risk individuals.

  • Provide comprehensive advice, information, needs assessment, and case coordination both face-to-face and over the phone.
  • Facilitate communication between housing providers to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Implement and review the Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) Outcomes Framework and Practice Guidelines.
  • Represent Uniting at local working groups and forums.
  • Strengthen partnerships with government and non-government agencies to deliver flexible, client-centred services.
  • Provide data and reports to the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).
  • Advocate for service users and provide effective outreach services.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Certificate IV/Diploma in Community Services or relevant with experience working as a caseworker.  
  • Demonstrated ability to assess needs using a strength’s-based approach.
  • Strong cooperative skills for working with internal and external colleagues.
  • Capacity to work independently and as a team member.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including word processing and data collection.
  • Excellent time management, crisis handling and communication skills.
  • Sound decision-making ability regarding support extent and timeliness.
  • Current driver’s license
  • Currrent NSW WWCC
