About You :

  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

Position Summary :

As the Food Van Shift Manager, you will be supported by the Manager and/or Owner, and you will lead and inspire a passionate team during your shift to provide an excellent customer experience in a fast paced environment. Some of your duties will be opening and closing the premises, managing customer orders and enquiries, and all aspects of kitchen operation including the preparation of food and drinks and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and safety in this working environment.  Entry-level staff will look to you for guidance, leadership and training, so you will need to supervise and delegate duties to your team effectively and be the point of contact for escalated customer queries for your shifts.

Key Requirements :

  • Proven leadership experience within a fast-paced kitchen environment;
  • Ability to operate kitchen and front-of-house equipment;
  • Experience in leading and training staff;
  • Proven ability to stay calm, effective and professional under pressure;
  • Experience in budget management and cost control;
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy;
  • Strong compliance to company policies and procedures;
  • Strong knowledge of and ability to prepare and present all menu items;
  • Knowledge of workplace health & safety regulations;
  • Have a responsible attitude and able to provide supervision and guidance to the team;
  • Able to follow directions and work as part of a team to achieve goals;
  • Able to communicate effectively with fellow staff, customers and management;
  • Proven ability to provide consistent, friendly and efficient service to all customers;
  • Able to optimise customer sales through effectively adding value as much as possible;
  • Able to operate, maintain and clean all equipment relevant to the role;
  • Able to maintain shop presentation, hygiene and product quality through following daily and weekly procedures and schedules (i.e. cleaning schedules).
  • Pro-active, positive, enthusiastic, energetic, responsible and friendly;

Job Responsibility :

  • Accurately record sales and banking;
  • Investigate, explain and report on any discrepancies to the management;
  • Assisting in ordering stock in accordance with par levels and the needs of the business;
  • Assist the management team in controlling expenditures such as Cost Of Employment (COE) through ensuring staffing levels are in alignment with the amount of activity within the business (i.e. sending employees home or on breaks when not busy);
  • Maintain stock control through monitoring of wastage, effective ordering/receiving and storage procedures;
  • Ensure maximum productivity and profitability in the store by giving direction to fellow employees of a lower level;
  • Supervision and training of employees of a lower level;
  • Responsible for the preparation of all food and drinks on the menu in readiness for service;
  • Report any disciplinary action or praise of employees of a lower level to the Head Chef and/or Owner;
  • Perform administrative duties in conjunction with management (i.e. collecting invoices, carrying out and recording of food safety requirements);
  • On call for emergencies and any unexpected store or staffing requirements;
  • Open to work a flexible rotating roster including evenings/weekends;
  • Ensure necessary regular washing up duties are carried out;
  • Tend to any incidental issues or events;
  • Work harmoniously with other food vans in the food village.
