Altona Meadows

Our Altona Meadows centre showcases seven equipped Montessori classrooms and three dynamic outdoor play areas. Key features of the Montessori classrooms include flexible learning spaces, clearly defined curriculum areas, and a full suite of Montessori Materials designed to meet the developmental needs and interests of each age group. Beyond the classroom, the centre’s outdoor play areas will feature a fixed play equipment, art and craft area, slide, dramatic play area, home corner, gardens, teepee, gross motor activities, and sandpits. 

The Role 

  • Guiding, supporting, and supervising staff, students and volunteers in the room
  • Deliver inspiring Montessori early learning experiences for the children
  • Developing the Children's Program
  • Ensuring a safe environment is maintained for staff and children
  • Ensuring accurate records are kept in regard to accident, incident, injury, illness and medication
  • Liaising with families
  • Maintaining observations and records of individual children's progress

Essential criteria

  • Aligned with Montessori Academy Core Values
  • Degree in Early Childhood Education/Teacher (or ACECQA equivalent)
  • Experience working as a Room Leader in an early childhood setting
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain one 
  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of the National Quality Framework, which includes: National Regulations, National Quality Standards (NQS), and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment  
  • Strong understanding of the importance of family communications 
  • Commitment to the holistic development of their class
