Are you ready to take on a pivotal role within the Public Works Division, managing the financial operations of high-risk and high-value capital works projects? We're looking for AO8 equivalent Business Finance Manager to join our team

  • A08 equivalent payrate $88+ p/h + super
  • Located in Brisbane QLD
  • Can start ASAP up to 6 months assignment with potential to extend, pending business and performance requirements

About the role
As an A08 Business Finance Manager, you will ensure the financial sustainability of the teams delivering these complex and diverse projects, including major sporting, entertainment, arts, cultural, health, correctional, and manufacturing facilities. In this role, you will lead and manage all operational financial activities, providing expert advice and support to senior leaders, and facilitating strategic and organisational change initiatives. Your superior knowledge in financial planning, forecasting, and reporting will be key to the successful delivery of these major projects. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Management: Deliver on all operational financial budgetary and reporting requirements, including financial planning, progressive forecasting, and monthly performance monitoring.
  • Expert Advice: Provide advice to senior leaders on operational and strategic business issues, including financial assessments, risk management, and governance strategies.
  • Research and Analysis: Undertake research and critically analyse business opportunities, developing financial and resourcing strategies to support ongoing viability.
  • Comprehensive Reporting: Assist in managing comprehensive financial reports for clients, project boards, and stakeholders to ensure project completion and compliance with governance frameworks.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Lead strategic and organisational change initiatives, including stakeholder consultation processes to achieve business outcomes.
  • System Improvement: Proactively contribute to business system improvement activities, including reviewing system processes, documenting guidelines, and implementing suitable technology solutions.
  • Financial Integrity: Oversee the management of financial accounting records and systems, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and legislative requirements.

About You
To thrive in this role, you need:

  • Ability to lead and inspire the financial management and business management functions within Major Project Delivery.
  • Personal responsibility in meeting objectives, with the ability to resolve complex and ambiguous issues.
  • Experience delivering high-quality project management, financial, procurement, and governance tools and reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Excel and Power Apps for data analysis, reporting, and process automation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with intra-agency, inter-agency, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide advice, guidance, and training to the team, ensuring adherence to policies and effective use of systems and tools.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Business, or related fields are highly regarded.
  • Must have full working rights in Australia.
  • Be able to pass and hold national police check.
