Your opportunity to join us as Livestock Manager in Southeast QLD

As Livestock Manager you will lead a team of Broiler Servicepersons and oversee the detailed and diligent servicing of all company and contract broiler farms across SE QLD. You will work closely with the farm managers to support the day to day operations of the broiler farms to ensure optimal compliance and performance including the achievement of volume, cost, profit, animal welfare, safety and quality objectives.

Additionally, you will work with a transport contractor to manage the supply of live birds to the Primary Processing Plant as well as the transportation of live birds and eggs to and from breeder farms, hatcheries and contract growers. You will ensure the catching process, transportation, supply timing and live bird quality adheres to Group Minimum Standard Procedures, Group Quality Procedures and Animal Welfare Legislation.

Our network spans a wide area across Southeast Queensland. A company vehicle is included, and we can offer a relocation package to the right applicant.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide support and guidance to the Broiler Farm Managers across SE Queensland with responsibility for company and contract broiler farms
  • Monitor and report on the daily operations of the farms with responsibility for achieving optimal production standards and ensuring all livestock is treated humanely, and in compliance with Inghams’ Minimum Standard Procedures
  • Drive improvement in the performance standards for growth, health, welfare and feed conversion of the broiler farms by partnering with broiler farm management
  • Coach the team to ensure a clear understanding of the requirements relating to Animal Welfare, Food Safety and Quality
  • Oversee catching and transport operations across SE QLD ensuring the timely and efficient supply of live birds to our primary processing plant, maintaining animal welfare standards at the highest level
  • Oversee transportation of day-old chicks and eggs to and from company breeder farms and hatcheries ensuring supply timing and egg quality adhere to the Group minimum standard procedures, Group quality procedures and animal welfare legislations
  • Manage and monitor all logistics contracts and ensure requirements are met including liaising with live haul contractors and managing trucks and catching contractors
  • Ensure animal welfare, quality and safety (including legislative COR compliance) is maintained during pickup, transport and lairage

Key requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ poultry experience, preferably in Broiler servicing
  • Previous experience managing a complex of farms and leading teams
  • Previous experience in transport and logistics with a strong understanding of compliance and safety particularly in COR
  • Superior people leadership skills with the ability to build, lead and develop teams and create a positive and collaborative working environment
  • Strong understanding of broiler and poultry welfare and sound knowledge of legislative and compliance requirements
  • Experience monitoring compliance such as safety, quality, environmental, biosecurity and animal welfare
  • Flexibility to work night and early morning shifts as required
