About the Role:

StandBy Support After Suicide service is a community-based postvention program developed in response to an identified need for a coordinated community response to assist families, friends and associates who have been bereaved or impacted through suicide, regardless of when or where the suicide occurred. 

The Casual Program Worker provides face-to-face and/or telephone support to people and communities who have been impacted or bereaved through suicide. The role is an on-call position (that may occasionally include requests for after hours or weekend work) and may require travel. Ideally you will have experience in communicating sensitively in a compassionate and respectful manner and have skills in working with people bereaved through suicide and dealing with grief and loss.

This role based in the Dubbo region would suit people looking for the freedom of occasional, casual hours, those working part-time or studying. Travel to deliver service is a requirement of the role. 

Desired Skills and Experience :

Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Health, Psychology, Social Work, Social Science, Social Welfare, Health Promotion or similar Demonstrated knowledge and skills in working with people bereaved through suicide and/or dealing with severe personal trauma The ability to communicate sensitively in an authentic, compassionate and respectful manner that takes into consideration the cultural background of the person being supported Demonstrated well-developed organisational, time management and administrative skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines Demonstrated experience in maintaining professional boundaries while engaging in person-centred work
