The Skills and Pathways Directorate supports students to access secondary and post-school education and training services. We collaborate to develop policy, pilot innovative ideas, and deliver programs to enhance skills, knowledge and qualifications.

About the role

The is an innovative, Ministerial and executive priority program designed to improve career advice, increase School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs), and help students and young people further their education.

As a School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship Engagement Officer (SBAT EO), you will join a team focused on increasing the number of students and employers participating in School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships, and provide tailored support to students, parents, schools, RTOs and employers to make the SBAT process as easy as possible.

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the team in a temporary full-time appointment until 31 December 2024 within a new western grouping of schools.

The SBAT EOposition will support Collarenebri Central School, Goodooga Central School, Lightning Ridge Central School, Mungindi Central School and Walgett Community College High School. The base location within the area can be negotiated with the successful candidate. 

Therole will work flexibly across locations, including hybrid and mobile working. Extensive travel spanning large geographical distances between the schools within the group and surrounding local communities is a feature of this position. A current drivers licence and use of your own vehicle (with work-related kilometres reimbursed in line with Departmental travel guidelines and policy) is required.

A good knowledge of the unique environmental and business complexities of the region will ensure you can foster and develop new opportunities across the whole area.

Demonstrated experience in Vocational Education and Training, Apprenticeships and Traineeships and/or work-based youth programs Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education, business, youth work and/or equivalent knowledge and experience Capability to work with industry to source employment opportunities Good understanding of the surrounding region and its employment needs Well-developed communication, engagement, negotiation and planning skills A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance A valid NSW Drivers Licence and own vehicle Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s and upholding the and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the .
