Here at Concentis we are partnering with a global mining client to source a Brisbane-based Project Leader (Control Systems) who will be responsible for developing and executing a portfolio of sustaining capital study and execution projects in Control Systems and Automation within a mining context.
 
As the Project Lead, you will oversee the project's budget, schedule, and resources, plan activities, and create and manage project documentation. In this hands-on asset owner role, you’ll leverage your technical background and strong project management skills to make a significant impact on production and projects. You will manage all stages of the project lifecycle, including Order of Magnitude, Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, and Execution stages. Additionally, you will prepare scopes of work, review project deliverables, engage with various stakeholders, and directly manage engineering service providers in the design and implementation of projects.

This role is a Monday-Friday Brisbane-based opportunity, with plenty of WFH flexibility. You will be required to head to sites roughly once every one to two months with all expenses covered, - with project demands this may increase. This is an initial 12-month rolling contract, with projects expected to run far beyond this, it is a serious long-term opportunity.
  
Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage projects throughout the Order of Magnitude, Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility and Execution stages.
  • Follow the Sustaining Capital project management framework and apply templates and assurance processes to the project deliverables.
  • Engage regularly and respectfully with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform detailed review of contractor deliverables in accordance with the scope, applicable specifications and site requirements.
  • Develop cost estimates, provide forecasts for project costs, and manage your project within allocated budget.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules; review Contractor’s schedules and expedite activities as necessary.
  • Write detailed scopes of work and participate in the tender process (e.g. Technical evaluation and
  • recommendation to award)
  • Identify and manage change relating to project scope (e.g. Technical or commercial scope change)
  • Write the business case and develop the supporting documentation to request project funding.

About you

  • Strong knowledge and experience with selection, design, and installation of control systems and instrumentation equipment.
  • Experience with a variety of PLC and DCS platforms. Rockwell, Schneider and Honeywell are highly regarded.
  • An understanding of Australian Standards and Legislation as applicable to the control systems discipline.
  • Experience in projects from early study phases through to execution
  • Experience with factory acceptance testing and on-site site acceptance testing
  • Strong written skills to prepare reports, scopes of work and other deliverables
  • Strong verbal communication skills for ongoing engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Technical controls systems/automation discipline leadership in driving consistent and best practices on complex projects.
  • The ability to work on multiple projects at a time, and be able to respond quickly to technical and/or commercial issues.
  • The ability to work independently, with coaching and guidance from peers and leaders.
  • Willingness to travel adhoc to the client sites within Australia.
