We are now looking for an outstanding Intensive Care or Emergency Medicine Physician as a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to take on the role of Specialist Lead, Acute Care, within our MBBS program, on a FTE basis.
Opportunity Highlights
Leadership: Assume a pivotal role, guiding the strategic direction and implementation of a key segment of the medical curriculum. Remuneration: Earn a salary ranging from $134,904 to $178,393 (due to increase by effective July 2024) on a pro-rata basis, plus clinical loading and 17% superannuation. Educational Impact: Play a direct role in enhancing the calibre and breadth of medical education, moulding future medical professionals. Professional Growth : Take advantage of continuous professional development opportunities within an academic environment, including participation in educational forums. Research and Scholarship : Lead or engage in research initiatives that enhance the educational methods and strategies in medical teaching. Key Responsibilities:
Lead teaching and learning initiatives, championing innovative curriculum development that integrates research, scholarship, or professional practice in the field of acute care. Innovate and communicate effective teaching strategies to faculty members, enhancing overall educational delivery. Enhance student learning experiences through proactive leadership in teaching, including peer review and mentorship. Contribute significantly to the elevation of teaching standards and practices, ensuring alignment with both the Australian Medical Council (AMC) Graduate Outcome Statements and Curtin University’s Graduate Attributes. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity and excellence of the Acute Care curriculum throughout the five-year program.
Our ideal candidate will have:
A degree in Medicine with APHRA registration. FACEM or FCICM or equivalency. PhD or Doctoral qualification is highly desirable. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and learning, with a reflective and innovative approach. A track record of educational scholarship and success in securing teaching-related grants. Strong knowledge of pedagogical theories and contemporary educational practices. Proven experience in curriculum development and leadership in educational initiatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on cross-cultural interactions. Your career history will showcase your professional expertise and your excellence in teaching and engagement. A strong understanding of the student learning experience through high quality, effective teaching practice and curriculum understanding is essential.

The Curtin Medical School (CMS) encompasses the disciplines of Medicine, Laboratory Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical Science, and Medical Radiation Science. CMS forms part of the Faculty of Health Sciences and is affiliated with two research institutes; the Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute (CHIRI) and the enAble Institute for Health Science (enAble). The discipline of medicine headquarters are based out of a dedicated building on the University Bentley campus with tailored clinical teaching and simulation facilities.
