About the opportunity

Werribee Mercy Hospital is a public hospital in Melbourne’s south western region providing comprehensive and collaborative care for women and their families in the surrounding areas. MITH is a department that provides holistic best practice community care in the postnatal phase of a woman’s pregnancy journey. The MITH Department provides community care 7 days a week and is a dynamic and fast pace unit lead by a team of senior midwives that ensure and facilitate the continuing support and care for our families in the local community.

  • Midwifery in the Home - Werribee Mercy Hospital 0.8 EFT - permanent AMUM position

  • The role of the Midwifery in the home ANUM is to be responsible for workforce planning and meeting the requirements of MITH home visits for mothers and babies.The ANUM will practice incorporating the core values of Mercy Health, who will,

  • Form an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be required to provide highly responsive and flexible service to clients and their families, while upholding a high level of professionalism and leadership

  • Work autonomously within maternity services, providing quality client care with a focus on problem identification and problem solving using a strategic approach.

  • Confident in the assessment of mother and baby well-being, and provide support and encouragement to facilitate the introduction of the newborn into the family unit.

  • Provide support to families in their loss of an infant through professional guidance and appropriate referral.

  • Will actively promote and support breast-feeding and will respect a mother’s choice of feeding.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Registration with APHRA

  • Endorsement as Registered Midwife with a minimum of 6 months experience in the role of an AMUM

  • Previous Domiciliary experience desirable

  • Current Driver’s License

  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving organisational goals using an innovative approach

  • Commitment to Professional Development and best practice initiatives

  • Computer literacy

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
