Position Overview:

As a Contract Cyber Security Officer, you will play a pivotal role in implementing and managing security controls to enhance our cyber posture. You will have practical, hands-on experience in implementing security controls, particularly with Sysadmin experience, ensuring the effectiveness of our cyber security measures. Additionally, you will be responsible for SIEM monitoring, incident response, managing cyber security platforms, and analyzing security vulnerabilities to develop mitigation strategies. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic and evolving cyber security landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Implement Essential 8 security controls and security controls to uplift posture, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  2. Utilize practical, hands-on experience to implement security controls, leveraging Sysadmin expertise to effectively secure our IT infrastructure.
  3. Monitor SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) for cyber security incidents, promptly responding to threats and mitigating risks.
  4. Manage cyber security platforms such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, antivirus solutions, etc., ensuring their optimal performance and effectiveness.
  5. Analyze security vulnerabilities, conduct risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies to address identified threats and vulnerabilities.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security measures, provide guidance on security best practices, and raise awareness of cyber security threats.
  7. Stay abreast of emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and trends, and recommend proactive measures to enhance our cyber defense capabilities.
  8. Document security incidents, response activities, and mitigation strategies for future reference and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in implementing security controls, with a strong focus on practical, hands-on experience.
  • Sysadmin experience is essential, demonstrating proficiency in securing IT infrastructure components.
  • Experience with SIEM monitoring, incident response, and managing cyber security platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze security vulnerabilities and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
