What does the job look like?

We have a fixed-term opportunity for a solutions-focused Lawyer to join the Legal Team as a Senior Lawyer. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, the successful candidate will join an established legal team that works collaboratively to provide a responsive and effective legal service across the various business units in the Group.

We are looking for a candidate who can work independently, guiding the business to achieve the appropriate balance of commercial and legal risk. Experience working within the banking and financial services sector, or a regulated environment would be favourably considered.

• Negotiating general commercial contracts and ensuring Armaguard’s Group members commercial and legal interests are properly represented
• Providing legal advice and assistance to the Armaguard Group to ensure that deliverables are achieved with minimum risk
• Ensuring Armaguard Group member’s maintain licensing for essential and comply with regulatory requirements
• A broad range of legal work from customer contracts representing an annual value of $5,000 through to major financial institution contracts

Are you the one?

• Minimum 5 year's experience practicing as a lawyer either in private practice or in-house legal
• A law degree from an Australian tertiary institution and admission to practice in the relevant jurisdiction
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in building relationships with internal clients at all levels
• Be flexible, adaptable, commercial and have a team-orientated attitude
• Strong commercial negotiation skills and the ability to influence key stakeholders
• Ability to manage competing priorities
• Strong drafting skills, particularly in the area of technology services agreements
• Experience in the areas of technology, financial services and banking
• Knowledge of the regulatory environment would be well regarded but is not essential
• Project management, analysis and problem-solving skills
• Self-sufficiency in relation to document preparation, diary management, typing and file management
• An ability and desire to complete legal work in the most cost-effective manner
