In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic management and development of The Perth Mint’s physical security risks and associated operations, and inventory of approximately $6.5 billion in precious metal assets.

Believe stakeholder management is a key skill of yours? Excellent. Here you will oversee a team of 30+ staff, across multiple sites, and in addition you'll collaborate with our business units, law enforcement and regulatory agencies.

Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer - you will be supported, valued and respected in your decision making and ambitions.

Your role as a General Manager Security will involve:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the Security strategic plan to manage the security risks associated with the Perth Mints assets, including $6.5 billion in precious metal
  • Responsible for the Security team – including managing health, safety and fatigue, team culture and engagement, career planning and workforce management
  • Support the Perth Mint in meeting its obligations under the Gold Corporations Act 1987
  • Conduct Procurement activities and the management of contracts / contractors relevant to the delivery of security services
  • Identify, design, and implement a highly secure and effective Security controls framework
  • Investigate, assess, and implement fit-for-purpose security technology and practices
  • Collaborating with internal business units, such as governance and risk, on matters related to financial crime and/or AML and CTF
  • Ensure the Mint’s assets, including vaults which are not on premise and its people are protected and secure supported by adequate policies and procedures
  • Maintain and proactively update Security access control systems
  • Undertake strategic security reviews, consider intelligence data, analyse strengths and weaknesses of the Mint’s security, and deliver action plans to appropriately strengthen the overall security of the Mint’s business across all sites
  • Participate in the planning and management, from a security context, of events held at the Perth Mint that could include members of Federal or State Government, visiting international dignitaries, other VIP as well as members of the public
  • Analyse and facilitate strategic alignment with other governmental agencies in the security and related areas where required. Act as the Perth Mint representative in this regard
  • Facilitate security awareness training for various staff members on general current security risks and threats
  • Liaise with law enforcement and regulatory agencies to minimise and contain security risks and violations, overseas travel and related possible security issues
  • Liaise with and support law enforcement and regulatory agencies such as the Western Australia (WAPOL), Federal Police and the Gold Squad, with enquiries relevant to the operations of the Perth Mint
  • Ensure policies and procedures which the movement of the Mint’s assets are maintained and strictly adhered to
  • Oversea security clearances, which may require liaison with internal departments to ensure National Police clearance guidelines are met
  • Conduct internal and external investigations when necessary

Experience:

  • Proven leadership experience in Security or a related field
  • Prior security-related operational experience in a multi-location environment with demonstrated ability to drive efficiency operations
  • Developing and leading positive organisational cultural change and positive employee engagement
  • Certificate/Diploma in a security related discipline and/or
  • Certificate/Diploma in Security and Risk Management and Operations
