A role with unique responsibilities
The role of the Genetic Counselling Patient Services Coordinator is to deliver excellent customer service to our patients requiring genetic counselling. The role will support approximately 13 Genetic Counsellors to ensure professional, efficient, and empathetic service is provided to our patients.

This exciting role will include the following duties:

  • Work with the Genetic Counselling Team, IVF Specialists, Laboratory staff and patients to support the delivery of a smooth process for individuals and couples having IVF treatment, reproductive carrier screening and other genetic tests through the Monash IVF Group.
  • Conduct intake for IVF referrals appointments including: patient demographics, family history, past medical history, obtain relevant medical records, etc.
  • Book genetic counselling/clinical geneticist appointments as appropriate for PGT, IVF, prenatal, and other genetic counselling patients.
  • Provide quality administrative support to the genetic counselling team including sending letters, organising billing, reviewing invoices, etc.
  • Educate and inform patients about IVF options (including pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT))
  • Obtain and review referrals and reports, and triage to clinical team
  • Triage and assist with phone and email enquiries about services provided by the genetic counselling team.

  • Tertiary qualifications in science or a related health discipline is strongly desired
  • Relevant working experience in health services
  • Good genetics knowledge and an understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Genetic Counsellor
  • Highly organised with excellent time management, attention to detail
  • High level of initiative
  • Able to work cohesively with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Dynamic, flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience in an environment that requires high volume data entry
