About the Opportunity:
Are you passionate about supporting student success in diverse learning secondary educational programs?
John Paul College are currently seeking an experienced Learning Assistant – Diverse Learning Secondary (Teacher Aide) to join our Secondary School Diverse Learning program from July 2024.
The role of a Learning Assistant – Diverse Learning Secondary at JPC is to provide valuable targeted assistance to students in mainstream classes with additional learning support and EAL/D needs.
Working under the guidance and direction of our Head of Diverse Learning (Secondary), a Learning Assistant – Diverse Learning Secondary plays a crucial role in facilitating student learning outcomes.
This important classroom and Diverse Learning support role will help to create inclusive learning environments; inspire and motivate students to commence and continue required tasks; foster positive relationships; as well as communicate with staff, students in a timely and respectful manner.
While the standard hours for this role are 38 hours per week during term time, John Paul College is committed to promoting work-life balance and supporting our employees' diverse needs. As such, we are open to considering job sharing arrangements for this position. About You:
The ideal candidate for the position of Learning Assistant – Diverse Learning Secondary will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Certificate III in Education Support or Certificate IV in Education Support or equivalent qualification, demonstrating proficiency in providing educational assistance and support to students.
- Experience working with Diverse Learning students within a Secondary or Upper Primary context.
- Experience in supporting students in Applied subjects is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and interact with students, teachers, and other stakeholders.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work collaboratively within a dynamic educational environment, responding to the diverse needs of students and teachers.
- Organisational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the completion of administrative tasks and NCCD documentation.
- A genuine passion for supporting student learning and development, with a commitment to promoting positive educational outcomes for all learners.
- Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines governing vocational education and training programs in educational settings.
- Experience and an up to date knowledge and understanding of AARA supports, NAPLAN and the QCAA.
As this role works directly with children on campus, the successful applicant will require a current Working with Children Check issued by Blue Card Services Queensland and a Current First Aid Qualification.
