The IT Category Procurement Specialist is responsible for planning and executing sourcing activities for their relevant category and contribute to the development of IT category strategies. 

The Category Procurement Specialist will ensure that appropriate procurement strategies are developed and applied to individual procurement projects, according to the overall Category Strategy as well as specific operational requirements.  They will take responsibility for sourcing activities within their category, seeing them through from inception to contract execution. They will contribute to the development of the Category Strategy, working closely with the IT Category Manager’s.

Other core responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Ensure appropriate procurement strategies are developed and applied to individual procurement projects.
  • Take responsibility for sourcing activities within their category, seeing them through from inception to contract execution.
  • Work within a team that includes Category Managers, Category Specialists, SRM and Analysts and be the lead for peer-level and suppler relationships.
  • Manage internal business and external suppliers with strategic procurement needs.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Procurement or Business Management.
  • 3 – 5 years strategic sourcing, category management and procurement experience.
  • Sound influencing, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Sound leadership skills with some ability in managing change / project management.
  • Able to interpret and execute category strategies, analyse data and markets, professionally present findings and recommendations.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness and a passion for delivering commercially astute outcomes.
  • Support the wider Procurement Category team as required.
