Media and Editorial Coordinator

Project Overview:

The PLF works with DFAT to support the administration of the PALM scheme and facilitate opportunities for Australian employers to connect with workers from the Pacific and Timor-Leste. The PLF is managed by Palladium and has been established as a trusted intermediary in supporting Australia-Pacific circular labour mobility. 

Role Overview:

The Media and Editorial Coordinator will support the PLF’s domestic and Pacific communications activities to manage the reputation of the PALM scheme and provide important information to stakeholders in Australia, the Pacific and Timor-Leste.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Communication and Knowledge Lead the Media and Editorial Coordinator will:

Write media releases, media pitches, social media posts and other materials as required for use in Australia, the Pacific and Timor-Leste. Maintain high editorial standards across the PLF, including via proof-reading and editing. Identify story leads and manage content gathering activities.  Liaise with a range of stakeholders including media, DFAT, employers, workers, and community groups. Maintain an understanding of Pacific and regional Australian contexts and make appropriate recommendations to build community awareness and understanding of the PALM scheme.  Ensure consistent messaging across a range of PALM scheme stakeholders and contextualise information materials for different audiences. 

Required Qualifications:

Successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience: 

Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in journalism, media relations or similar.  Exceptional writing and editing skills.  Experience with photography and or videography is highly desirable.  Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is highly regarded but not essential. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, particularly in a cross-cultural context.

Due to the evolving nature of our program, it is possible that the incumbent may be expected to undertake duties that fall outside the remit of their original Terms of Reference to ensure the ongoing success of the program. 

Where this is required, the following will occur: 

The adviser has the skills and experience to fulfill the duties.  This arrangement will be short term in nature.
