Permanent role in a leading truck tyre retailer. For an experienced tyre fitter seeking a professional company with options to earn overtime and call out rates.

  • Requires tyre fitting experience or qualifications
  • Salary guide: ordinary hours rate up to $35ph + OT + On call allowance
  • Townsville area 

Availability required from Monday to Friday, between 7 am and 4 pm, with the addition of optional Saturday availability. 

The role encompasses one or more of the following responsibilities:

  1. Workshop:
    • Installing truck tyres and some 4x4 tires.
  2. On-site fleet:
    • Conducting checks on truck tyres.
    • Managing fleet operations.
    • Installing and balancing truck and car tyres.
    • Providing on-field tyre fitting services using a service truck.
  3. On-The-Road (OTR) rostered roadside assistance:
    • Performing OTR service fittings.
    • Working independently.
    • Operating trucks and forklifts.
    • Conducting basic maintenance on trucks and forklifts.
    • Rotating every 4 weeks through a 24-hour, 7-day on-call roster.
    • Demonstrating the ability to work effectively and efficiently without supervision while adhering to rules.

Most of the tyre fittings involve vehicles such as Petroleum trucks, Earth Movers, Passenger cars, and some 4WD vehicles. Earthmovers include small loaders, bobcats, and Franna cranes with multipiece rims.Additional duties include:

  • Diagnosing and locating tyre punctures or ruptures, followed by evaluating the best repair method.
  • Balancing and conducting puncture repairs.
  • Managing tire stock allocation.
  • Assisting customers.
  • Removing and replacing tyres.
  • Providing advice and selecting the correct tyres, tubes, and rims.
  • Diagnosing wheel balance problems and balancing wheels.
