The Role: We are looking for a Registered nurse to work at Thorton Park (Penrith) on a morning shift from 6:45 am - 2:45pm Monday to Friday, a total of 75 hrs per fortnight.
Main Activities
Nursing:
- Conduct initial assessments of new residents as they enter the facility and serve as a consultant to Care Service Employees, addressing complex nursing and care needs.
- Develop personal care plans that ensure the individual needs of residents are identified and met,
and be aware of changes in care plans. - Review all residents frequently, including residents file: behaviour charting and assessments, observation charts, medication charts, weight and bowel chart documentation and wound charts etc.
- Be the first person to call for an incident when a resident has had a fall - take observations and assist with manual transfer by lifter, ambulance or verbally instruct resident to get up from the floor.
Teamwork and Culture:
- Actively contribute to team efforts to achieve operational goals and foster a positive workplace culture in alignment with SCC Values, Mission, and Vision.
- Provide support and guidance to Care Service Employees, residents and their families.
- Lead and/or be involved in staff development and training sessions for Care Service Employees.
Stakeholder Relationships:
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
- Communicate appropriately with residents while working with them.
- Respect the rights of each resident to maintain their religious and cultural links as appropriate.
- Work cohesively as part of the team to reach the team’s key outcomes and objectives required by SCC.
Work Health and Safety (WHS):
- Adhere to and support Work Health and Safety policies and procedures, contributing to a safe working environment.
- Contribute and comply with Return to Work programs as appropriate.
- Take preventative actions as appropriate as per SCC policies and procedures.
Essential:
- Registered Nurse (Division 1) with general registration
Desirable:
- Aged care experience as an RN - Minimum 2 years
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the aspirations and needs of frail older people
- Ability to set and maintain high standards in the provision of quality care and support services
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to provide quality care and support to frail aged people
- Advanced verbal and written English communication skills
- Numeracy skills - reconciliations and statistics
- Sound understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation as it applies to Aged Care providers
