About the role

Reporting to the Information and Guidance Manager, this content writing and editing role will focus on refreshing outdated guidance that is published on worksafe.vic.gov.au for employers, workers, service providers and other stakeholders.

The role works closely with internal Subject Matter Experts, Policy and Legal to ensure the accuracy and accessibility of WorkSafe’s suite of guidance materials. The role is also focused on creating an improved user-centred approach to the delivery of guidance that reaches targeted audiences.

Key accountabilities

  • Work with internal Subject Matter Experts, Policy and Health and Safety Legal to create effective guidance content for the web in HTML and PDF formats.
  • Develop simple, Plain English content that is accessible to the whole community, including people with low literacy, culturally and linguistically diverse audiences, and people with a lived experience of disability.
  • Review and edit content created by service providers and business Subject Matter Experts, making sure all approval processes are followed and that final drafts are legally accurate.
  • Provide proactive and responsive strategic and tactical communications advice, identifying and managing reputational issues, risks and opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Digital Operations Team to drive an improved and consistent content delivery approach via the WorkSafe website.
  • Support and assist in the quality assurance review of other statutory or non-statutory guidance or information services material, as required.
  • Provide assistance and support in creating, planning, developing and delivering clear guidance in line with the team’s content strategy.

About you

You are an experienced content writer with demonstrated knowledge of digital content development principals. Your communication, attention to detail and organisational skills are highly developed. Strong stakeholder management experience is critical for success in this role. You’re also a team oriented person who enjoys delivering outcomes in a timely manner.

Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a complex organisation with specific legal requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of content design for search engine optimisation (SEO)
  • Experience in the preparation of project plans and the ability to monitor and report, such as highlighting any risks or issues with effective deadline delivery dates
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement systems/procedures
  • Tertiary qualification in copywriting for digital channels, digital content strategy, user experience design or digital marketing highly desirable
