Job Summary

:

In this role, you will supervise a team of electrical personnel, estimate project staffing needs, and schedule and assign work.

You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans and review and approve electrical investigations and studies. Your leadership will drive high quality work plans, successful implementation of electrical components, team support and training, and project performance. 

Major Responsibilities:

Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day-to-day electrical engineering activity on medium to large sized projects utilizing relevant procedures, design standards and guides.  Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of personnel assigned, estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work accordingly.  Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements.  Prepares or oversees the preparation of electrical discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.  Reviews and makes recommendations of the electrical engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering.  When directed, coordinates with client representatives to obtain their approval of electrical engineering aspects of the work.  Ensures that assigned electrical engineering personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.  Assists in the preparation and reviews of project procedures and cost estimates for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.  Reviews and approves key calculations, licensing evaluations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Relevant work experience in FEED, proposal & detailed engineering preferably in an EPC/EPCM industry for large industrial plants, power projects, utilities, oil and gas plants.  Have demonstrated experience in the Australian Mining and Metals industry.  Experience in design, procurement, construction, commissioning or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities or process plants is desirable.  Knowledge of systems engineering, calculations, applications, construction methods and materials.  Good working knowledge of industry and regulatory standards such as MSHA, OSHA, ISO, DIN etc  Has the capability to develop procedures and design criteria/guides and demonstrated knowledge of computer aided engineering (CAE) tools to perform calculations.  Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.  Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to selection of design features within the discipline.  Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a team of engineers and designers within a multi-discipline major project.
