ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Public Spaces Planning and Design team sits within Council’s Environment and Planning Directorate and focuses on public space planning and design within the Cumberland LGA, along with supporting Council’s strategic objectives by enhancing the life and vitality of the communities who call Cumberland home. The Public Spaces Planning and Design team consists of Landscape Architects, Urban Designers and Planners.

We have an exciting opportunity within our team for a dynamic Landscape Architect who is dedicated to providing open space design and landscape architectural services to enhance Council’s active and passive open spaces and deliver best practice in the development of effective, creative and sustainable landscapes.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Degree or diploma qualified in landscape architecture or equivalent and/or relevant industry experience in an allied field
  • Demonstrated landscape architecture and open space design experience preferably with experience in a local government environment
  • Ability to prepare landscape plans and detailed working drawings
  • Demonstrated experience in providing landscape design documentation using design applications, ideally AutoCAD/Vectorworks and Adobe CC
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of specifications and project management
  • Ability to assist in the preparation of reports and provide technical landscape and urban design advice in response to organisational needs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of relevant technology that will assist the landscape planning and design function
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Current Class C drivers licence

About this role: 

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) 
  • Located at Council's Auburn Office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 12 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,844.36 to $2,121.02 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation (please note this salary range and superannuation percentage will apply from the first pay period in July 2024) 
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
