Spring Ridge, Australia Yard and Groom Full time

Situated on a large-scale cattle and grain producing farm near Quirindi, New South Wales, Australia. Position to start mid July (preferably you are already in Australia) until around middle of October. Job as 2nd polo groom includes exercising both young and older horses, alongside our head groom. Also includes tack cleaning, checking paddocks and fences. Approx 12-14 horses in work at any one time - job is 6 days per week during the tournament season. Working weekends are spent at polo tournaments or practice with expenses paid. The applicant will be under the direct supervision of the owners and/or head groom, however he/she needs to be independent. Days worked can go to 2nd year visa. This is a great opportunity for someone young who is travelling and keen to experience farm life in Australia, attending country polo all over Northern NSW and have a great time in a family-orientated team. Requirements

Need to be a VERY confident rider and horse handler - able to ride at a gallop riding one, leading two on your own. Polo experience is not necessary. You need the ability to work happily alongside others, take advice as it’s offered as well as work with initiative when unsupervised and have a very good attention to detail. Is essential for the applicant to have a 'fun-loving' attitude, be social, and pro-active. Would be beneficial to enjoy other farm animals, in particular, dogs, cats and cattle. Wage is negotiable depending on experience. Drivers license essential.

Accommodation

Accommodation on farm in comfortable workers quarters, renovated approx 10 years ago. Own bedroom, shared bathroom/kitchen/living. Vehicle is available to drive to nearby town (30kms away) for supplies and social activities. All Weekend expenses at polo are paid for e.g. food, accommodation, travel.
