The Graduate Nurse Program 2025 Combined Mental Health Stream


Our 2025 Graduate Nurse Program (Combined Mental Health Stream) has been developed for nurses passionate about both general paediatrics and mental health. This program aims to facilitate your transition from a newly graduated Registered Nurse to a competent and confident Registered Nurse, through ongoing learning and development in a safe and supportive environment. The combined General Paediatrics and Mental Health Graduate Program integrates into the RCH's foundational paediatric nursing pathway. Upon completing the two rotations the Graduate Nurse will have the opportunity to identify and select their ongoing clinical pathway.

The program is designed to promote:

• Young person-centered, family and recovery-focused mental health care

• Foundations in trauma-informed care and therapeutic engagement

• Competence in paediatric nursing practice and youth mental health nursing practice
• Engagement in critical questioning and reflective practice
• Integration into effective multidisciplinary team functioning

Our program will include:
• 12 month program • Part Time
• Orientation and preceptorship
• Supernumerary time
• Regular in-service education and training
• Professional development days
