Senior Assessor Auditor

  • $128,755.00 per annum  + superannuation

Purpose  

The Senior Assessor Auditor is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient administration and implementation of Registered Training Organisations (RTO) and Individual Assessors auditing processes for High Risk Work by informing and educating RTO’s and other stakeholders so that they understand the legislative obligations attached to the audit program. In addition, this role will support the Principle Auditor in the co-ordination of audits and the coaching of Assessor Auditors as well as undertaking complex, high profile or high risk correspondence and technical specialist enquiries.

Key accountabilities 

  • Provide a pro-active deterrent against non-compliance with the legislation, National Assessment Instruments, Procedures Manual for RTO’s, and exercise statutory powers when necessary by conducting preliminary investigations of alleged misconduct by RTO’s or Individual Assessors and refer matters for formal investigation where appropriate
  • Utilise specialist technical knowledge and expertise to play a strategic role in analysing compliance, and any deficiencies by RTO’s and Individual Assessors so that suitable corrective action plans can be developed and implemented, including but not limited to developing Advice Documents and Self-Assessment Audit Work Books for use by RTO’s, Individual Assessors and Assessor Auditors
  • Support the Principal Auditor by providing vital leadership to the assessor’s team whilst overseeing, monitoring and reviewing technical capability and service delivery, coaching, mentoring and guiding the team in complex interventions
  • Work closely with the Principal Auditor and participate in risk profiling of nominated projects, business planning and workplace interventions, as well as contributing to the development and continuous improvement of strategic oversight processes and initiatives
  • Maintain records of audit results of RTO’s and Individual Assessors and compile reports on performance and level of activity
  • Identify opportunities, make recommendations and implement continual improvement of the RTO program
  • Handle complex correspondence and technical specialist enquiries regarding the RTO program, responding to and providing detailed responses to WorkSafe management on matters regarding Ombudsman, VCAT, Courts and Ministerial enquiries or other matters
  • Provide an ongoing advisory service for external and internal stakeholders regarding the RTO’s, Individual Assessors and program
  • Engage, interact, consult and influence key stakeholders, including other OHS jurisdictions
  • Contribute to the development of national policy on licensing of operators, safe use of plant and safe systems of work and provide

Skills and experience

  • Knowledge of OHS legislation and WorkSafe policies and procedures relevant to the High Risk Work program and audit of RTO’s and Individual Assessors
  • Knowledge of various types of plant, the National Assessment Instruments, the national standards and computer based record systems
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, codes of practice, compliance codes and National Industry Standards within the context of the role
  • An understanding of objective auditing processes and the ability to competently inquire into allegations of non-compliance and prepare evidentiary reports
  • Well developed organisational, analytical and conceptual skills
  • High level written and oral communication skills, including a proven ability to confidently present to external stakeholders

  • Hold a current Victorian drivers licence
