In this role you will be responsible for leading a small team in achieving the highest level of safety, welfare and well-being for the community and the team, by ensuring the relevant legislation and other statutory requirements within the scope of Local Government, and Council policies, are implemented effectively.

What You’ll Be Working On

Your day-to-day will involve ensuring a smooth flow of activity within the team with regard to inspections, patrols and investigations of all matters under the direction of the Manager Compliance, including patrols of beaches, reserves and streets.

You will ensure that all complaints received or referred are thoroughly and courteously investigated and take all necessary action to resolve the situation using Council policy and procedures in a prompt and timely manner.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

To be successful in this role you will have a degree or Diploma in Town Planning, Building Surveying or Environmental Health, or certificate 1V in Management, Law or Local Government regulations or related field.

You will have minimum five years demonstrated experience in law enforcement procedures relevant to law enforcement activities or related experience.

With a ‘can-do’ attitude you will have the ability and experience regarding Court processes and presentation of evidence. With a minimum of two years sound knowledge of the Companion Animals Act, Roads Act, Environmental Assessment and Planning Act 1979, Local Government Act 1993, The Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act 2021

Protections of the Environment Act and other related legislation.

In addition to the above you will hold an unrestricted and current Class C Drivers Licence and a current Frist Aid Certificate.

This position is subject to a Police Check undertaken through Council.
