The purpose of the TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) is to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of quality capital works projects for TasWater that will meet the needs of TasWater’s business, their stakeholders and the communities of Tasmania for years to come. The TasWater CDO manages the TasWater Capital Works Program from inception to completion including the planning, design, procurement, and delivery phases.

About the Role

UGL are looking for a Procurement Manager to assist in the delivery of our procurement & commercial commitments for our TasWater CDO projects. This role can be based out of Hobart, Launceston or Devonport, this will be a fixed term contract opportunity. 

What will a day in this role look like

  • Develop and implement sound strategic, business and improvement plans that address procurement policies, commercial issues and ensure contract compliance with time bars, submissions, notices and the like
  • Tender commercial evaluation
  • Periodically review materials requirements and investigate sources of supply from both local and overseas markets with focus on value for money
  • Determine procurement benchmarks
  • Manage contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Review subcontract commercial conditions and provide advice as to consistency of terms and conditions with Alliance guidelines
  • Investigate and develop supplier agreements to optimize long term price and delivery performance
  • Prepare and issue tenders for inventory and panel subcontract items

What would we expect you to bring to the team

·        Degree or Diploma in, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or equivalent

·        Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Contracts Administration or similar position.

·        Experience in the use of AS forms of contract

·        Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing 
skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people 
at different levels both internally and externally.

·        Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle 
multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within 
a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands

·        Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, email

·        Advanced skills in MS Excel

·        Experience of SAP Software / accounting and associated reporting desirable

·        Experience in a utilities and/or service industry desirable
